One of my first complaints about the Motorola Xoom was the ridiculous price tag. For a new, untested and unfinished product like the Xoom, Motorola priced itself out of the game. It really showed too, when the Xoom failed to sell the way that Moto thought it would. Of course, half the features didn’t work on release, and a few of them still don’t for some reason! Even so, theXoom is not a bad device, and early adopters were even treated to the first Honeycomb update on the Verizon 3G version of the tablet.
Now the price drops have finally begun. The $600 wifi model was a tad more acceptable as far as cost, but it’s still too much in my humble opinion. Well, the world’s largest retailer, Walmart, is now offering theMotorola Xoom for $569.00. That’s $30.99 under the competition. Personally, I think it’s still too high but at least it shows that someone is getting ahead of the sweeping rush of Android tablets that we’re going to see this summer and into fall. And with all the new devices set to hit the market, you can bet this won’t be the last price drop we’ll see.
The Xoom is the premiere Android tablet, and the first to run Android’s Honeycomb OS, which was built for tablets. It was also the first mainstream Tablet to feature NVIDIA’s dual core Tegra processor.
