At first glance, the MagBak seems to do very little. It’s just two strips of silicone that you put on the back of your iPad. The nice thing is that the strips do add a bit of grip, so that you don’t have to worry about it slipping out of your hands while you’re carrying it. What’s interesting is that inside of those strips are a set of magnets. If you use a SmartCover, it will now snap into place on the back of your iPad, instead of hanging limply. The magnets aren’t just designed to make your SmartCover stay in place, you can actually use these strips to mount your tablet to any metal surface.
If you don’t have a lot of metal walls around your house, you’ll be getting a metal O-Ring that you can mount to a wall. Then, whenever you want to put your iPad there, you’ll literally just press it up against the O-Ring, and it will stay. If you want one of these for yourself, you only need to pledge $29 to the Kickstarter fund, which has earned more than double the amount they originally asked for. You should expect to get your MagBak sometime next month.
