Recently there was hints of a rollout of Android 2.3 Gingerbread to the Galaxy tab, and now there’s official confirmation that the update is making the rounds. It’s not exclusive to the Galaxy Tab, though, this one is coming for a big swath of Samsung Galaxy devices. Samsung announced the rollout to Korean media, saying the the Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab, Galaxy Ace, Geo, Fit and Mini will all be moving to 2.3 very soon. Users of these devices can download the update via Kies, Samsungs software management tool.
The upgrade to Gingerbread will bring with it an enhanced UI, faster performance, less power consumption from multimedia, and greater support for 3D graphics.
The update will begin mid-May in the UK with the Galaxy S, and make its way through Europe, North America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and to the rest of the world.
